Imran Khan Arrest Live Updates, May 9, 2023: Protests erupted in several Pakistani cities after former Prime Minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan was arrested as he appeared for a corruption case hearing in the Islamabad High Court on Tuesday. According to local media reports, PTI supporters stormed the Pakistan Army headquarters in Rawalpindi and the corps commander's residence in Lahore in unprecedented scenes.

Islamabad High Court (IHC) Chief Justice Aamer Farooq, meanwhile, strongly opposed the arrest at the IHC premises, Dawn reported.

Khan was arrested in connection with the Al-Qadir Trust case, in which the former prime minister and his wife are accused of "receiving "billions of rupees from a real estate company to legalise a laundered amount of 50 billion rupees," Dawn reported. The former prime minister has faced a series of cases since his ouster in a no-confidence vote last April
